Consumerize Your Employees
Do you shop online? I do! For books. I read them in the store, I buy them online.
For travel. I compare photos online, I compare prices online, I buy online, I check in online.
For software. Backup online, a virus scan online, a new free tool to recover lost files online.
For the latest iPad I touch it in the store, I drool over it in the next store, but I buy it online.
And of course there are those shiny pink shoes that I can tailor-design online.
The happy world of consumer shopping
And then I get to work.
For new software, I have to bribe the IT guy with a cheeseburger. For a cloud application that helps me with my job, I need a credit card, which the Finance guy won't let me use. Forgot my password? I have to call the never-reachable helpdesk. Laptop breaks down? I can't work for a week because another IT guy needs to do special tech things to recover the data. And then I find out a week later that I need another laptop, and I receive a disgustingly ugly, non-feminine black monstrosity. There's no option to order a pink, small, ladylike laptop that fits in my designer bag.
That was then...
But now there is MyDock!
I have the same shopping experience as at home. I almost start enjoying ordering the boring IT things —it's as easy and fulfilling as ordering those tailor-designed pink shoes online.
With MyDock, I can:
Browse through the options and order what I need and want.
See what is available and what it costs.
See what I have ordered and what the status is.
Leave my own very interesting review about the products I use, or tag them with a "like."
Order software online, without a credit card, after receiving approval from my manager (via his smartphone), and it is automatically delivered to me, with my login details and password.
Heaven...MyDock is heaven.
